Outpatient Services

Noddles Island is North Suffolk’s Addiction Services Department providing outpatient services to people of all ages who are struggling with addiction.  We specialize in treating a variety of addictions including alcohol, drugs including opioids, tobacco and gambling.  The treatment begins with an evaluation and our approaches include relapse prevention, education, motivational approaches to treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy and harm reduction.  Clients may participate in individual, group and family counseling, psycho-educational groups, addiction psychiatry, recovery training, relapse program, and drug screening.  Our qualified staff includes certified addiction counselors, licensed social workers, addiction psychiatrists and licensed counselors.

Clients experience a non-judgmental and supportive treatment which assists them in achieving increasing periods of sobriety, greater stability and healthier relationships.  North Suffolk also offers services to family members and friends learning to deal with their loved one’s addiction.

IOP & SOAP

NSMHA will provide comprehensive treatment (pharmacotherapy and psychosocial therapy) in an office-based setting for patients diagnosed to have opioid and alcohol use disorders. Pharmacotherapies used for treatment at the facility include buprenorphine plus naloxone, naltrexone and the use of supportive medications such as clonidine for brief periods to facilitate entry into drug-free or partial agonist / antagonist treatment.

Patients seeking Office-Based Medication Treatment will be seen by a behavioral health provider experienced in the treatment of substance use disorders. The behavioral health clinician will perform an assessment over one or two sessions; the assessment will include the following information:

  • diagnosis or diagnoses
  • complete history including psychiatric and medical and substance abuse history
  • appropriateness for treatment, and patient readiness for change
  • social supports and work history
  • clarification of insurance information
  • recommendation regarding treatment (i.e. IOP, continued 1:1 counseling, group therapy, NA, AA, etc)
  • the clinician will have the patient sign releases for any recent treatment, including hospitalizations laboratory studies, medication information and routine medical care.

TEEN CONEXIONS

Teen Conexions is an intensive outpatient treatment program for adolescents ages 13 to 17 with substance abuse issues.  Teen Conexions is located at 14 Porter Street in East Boston, program hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3:30PM-6:00PM.  Our program focuses on group therapy as a means for young people to explore an understanding of substance abuse.  The environment encourages young people to identify risks associated with substance abuse, develop healthy coping skills, and use their peers to support one another in recovery.

Teen Conexions include:

  • Group treatment
  • Individual treatment
  • Family treatment
  • Toxicology screens
  • Psychopharmacology referral (if needed)
  • Aftercare planning and referral

Drug Court

Noddles Island is a member of, Chelsea and East Boston Drug Courts. Evaluation and treatment placement services are provided in collaboration with Drug Court teams.  We also receive referrals and collaborate closely with the staff of the Lynn, Roxbury, Cambridge, Brighton, South Boston and Quincy Drug Court systems.
