Recovery Support Navigator

North Suffolk is looking for a Recovery Support Navigator (RSN) to join our team! The RSN provides care management and system navigation supports to court involved individuals with diagnosis of substance use disorder and/or co-occurring mental health disorders in Lynn District Court. Service is to engage Members as they present in court system and support them in accessing treatment services and community resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide active effort to engage clients who have traditionally been difficult to engage in all aspects of care.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with client, providing contact and support.
  • Act as liaison between service providers, trial court, community and client.
  • Provide comprehensive initial assessment of need areas for all clients referred.
  • Complete treatment plan with clearly defined goals utilizing strength based model
  • Conduct risk assessment with each client and formulate a crisis plan and work with the client to identify and integrate new coping skills in response to stressful situations that arise.
  • Assess and provide functional teaching in the areas of self-help, socialization, budgeting, housing assistance, community integration, and other psychosocial need areas.
  • Assist individuals with:
    • scheduling and attending, routine and preventive medical appointments as well as accessing outpatient mental health treatment.
    • official correspondence pertaining to insurance eligibility, social security and other entitlement programs.
    • obtaining and maintaining decent, affordable housing.
    • accessing employment and job training programs.
    • identifying and accessing appropriate resources to support client’s recovery
  • Transport (drive) clients throughout the community to attend to medical and behavioral health care appointments, legal and other important events.
  • Work in conjunction with the licensed CSP Supervisor for all clinical concerns.
  • Complete all required documentation and required training in a timely manner.
  • Advocate for and ensure that consumers are treated with dignity and respect.

What You’ll Need:

  • Education: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or other related field.
  • Experience: Must possess sufficient knowledge and understanding about treatment and recovery from substance use disorder and the criminal justice system.
  • Skills/Other:  Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle.  Must have strong communication and liaison skills. Good oral and written skills required.
  • Vaccination: At least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccination is required prior to hire and complete the full vaccination schedule in the appropriate timeline as documented by the CDC requirements for vaccination.
