Recovery Navigator – Chelsea Youth Access Center
North Suffolk is looking for a Recovery Navigator to join our Chelsea Youth Access Center! The YA Center Recovery Navigator is a young adult that has lived experience of substance use recovery that reports to the Chelsea YA Center Program Manager. They provide structured, one-to-one, strength-based, peer-to-peer education, coaching, modeling, and guidance to youth who attend the Chelsea YA Center that are struggling with substance use, and/or a traumatic life experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Responsible for connecting YA Center young adults struggling with substance use issues with treatment options including but not limited to:
- Inpatient/Outpatient Addiction Treatment
- 12-Step Programs
- Dual Diagnosis Treatment
- Medication-Assisted Treatment
- Detox Center
- Serve as a role model to encourage hope and foster motivation to YA Center young adults.
- Provide social and emotional support to YA Center young adults seeking to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other substances.
- Undergo the Massachusetts Peer Recovery Coaching training and adhere to model’s core elements.
- Responsible for the execution of the daily and weekly programming within the Chelsea YA Center.
- Participate in the facilitation of support groups and extracurricular activities to further support healthy development and growth of YA Center young adults.
- Ensure that all services provided by the YA Center Peer Mentor are provided in a professional manner, ensuring privacy, safety, and respecting the youth’s dignity and right to choice.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner in such a way that is consistent with Agency and funding source standards.
What you’ll need:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field other than behavioral sciences OR
Have a high school degree OR GED and have work experience with young adults/adults diagnosed with substance use and or dependency. - A certificate from The Recovery Coach Academy preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a field other than behavioral sciences OR
- Experience:
- Must be a Young Adult who has personal experience living with and recovering from substance use.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have the ability to effectively engage transitional age youth.
- Must have experience and knowledge regarding addiction treatment service system, recovery coaching and other related human services.
