What is Child and Family Outpatient Therapy?
Child and Family Outpatient Therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on the reduction or elimination of emotional or behavioral difficulties impacting children, adolescents and their families. North Suffolk provides clinic-based therapy for children and adolescents ages 3-18 years old. Parents/guardians and /or important others are involved over the course of treatment in various ways in support of their child/adolescent and family’s progress. Outpatient therapy is best suited to individuals and families that may benefit from weekly or bi-weekly appointments in an office setting and who are not in acute crisis.
Children’s Services include: The Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative Services (CBHI) facilitate access to, and ensure coordination of, care for youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) in the Department of Child and Families Harbor Area. Services provided include: Community Support Agency (CSA); Intensive Care Coordination (ICC) and family partner (FP) services utilizing a Wraparound model; and the CBHI remedy services In-Home Therapy (IHT) and Therapeutic Mentoring ( TM ) . Other Children’s Services include a Protective Day Care and Early Intervention services, Child and Family outpatient services, School Based Psychotherapy services and a Therapeutic After School Program for latency aged (6-12) girls and boys.
