This position is responsible for the overall clinical services functioning of the CBFS Residential Services, and the quality of such services as assigned under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services and/ or Residential Service Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing direct clinical leadership, and clinical supervision and training to the Clinical Coordinators and management staff, and overseeing the same level of services for the direct service staff.

This position plays a major role in the ongoing overall training of the residential department’s Clinical Coordinator’s development and implementation of rehabilitative techniques, protocols/strategies and positive behavioral supports.  Responsible for guiding the use of best practice strategies such as motivational interviewing, recovery and ensuring a focus on person centered treatment and positive behavioral supports. This position supervises interns within the CBFS residential department.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree with a minimum of six (6) years experience in the provision of behavioral/clinical/educational services, four (4) of which should be post-grauate
  • Knowledge of DMH
  • Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation philosophy and techniques required
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required

The Residential Program Director of an Intense Group Living Environment,  is responsible for the overall management of the program, in addition to the health and safety of the persons with psychiatric disabilities residing there.  This residential program is a high intensity, recovery and clinically focused, transitional residential program. This program uses empowerment and creativity to help people move forward in their recovery despite challenges in the past.

  • Directs and supervises all aspects of the program
  • Insures that day to day operations of the group home is grounded in the philosophy and techniques of psychiatric rehabilitation
  • Follow all Licensing standards and insure that charts meet Rehabilitation Option standards
  • Schedule employees and evaluate employee performance
  • Provide best-practice procedures, treatments, and approaches to help clients with psychiatric disabilities achieve their goals

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with North Suffolk’s policies and applicable laws. Interview, hire, and train employees; reward and discipline employees; adjust employee grievances, problems and/or complaints.

REQUIREMENTS:Experience: Working in both group living environments for people with psychiatric diagnoses and in psychiatric in-patient units preferred.  At least 4 years’ experience in human services and 4 years supervisory experience required. As a Shift Supervisor for North Suffolk Mental Health Association, you’ll be responsible for the health, safety and quality of life of clients living in an intensive group environment at the Greenway Residence. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist supervisor with the hiring process

As the Awake Overnight Counselor for North Suffolk Mental Health Association, you’ll be responsible for the safety and well-being of consumers in a residential setting (MH or DS) during overnight shifts. Assist clients based on need level, while following all agency policies, procedures, and licensing/funding source requirements. The Awake Overnight Counselor is awake and available to consumers during the entire overnight shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties
  • Oversee nightly activities as assigned by supervisor
  • Conduct security checks on an hourly basis, documenting that consumers are in the facility.
  • Perform basic data collection, entry, and tallying of information with respect to IAP goals, objectives, and protocol.
  • Perform weekly medication counts, medication audits and communicate with day staff the need to order refills.

For DS residential programs: 

  • During the week, wake individuals up for day program
  • Assist with showering, and dressing for the day
  • Make sure clothing is clean and appropriate for the weather
  • Prepare breakfast for the individuals
  • Make sure lunch is packed for day program

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: At least 1 year in the human services field working with a similar population required.

Education: High School degree or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a similar field, preferred.

Skills: You must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. You must also have valid Driver’s license, be MAP certified, SFA, CPR/First Aid certified within five months of hire (training provided).

Weekend Floaters are part-time (16 hours per week) positions, responsible for providing weekend coverage in a residential home setting; in either a Direct Support Professional or Awake Overnight capacity. During their assigned hours, floaters must be willing, and able, to work at any residential program at short notice. Floaters may be hired to work at either Mental Health or Developmental Disability residential programs. Access to reliable transportation is required, to ensure the floater’s ability to travel to different sites quickly and efficiently.

Residential direct support staff are members of a team, responsible for providing high quality direct care services to adults with mental illness. Each direct support staff member is responsible for ensuring that the human rights of all individuals served are met. Staff are responsible for treating all individuals with dignity and respect. Direct support staff are responsible for supporting individuals in the completion of their daily routines; and for ensuring persons served live a safe, healthy, enjoyable life in the community. Direct support staff are responsible for ensuring that individuals are provided with opportunities to learn and exercise, increasing independence as much as is practicable.

High school diploma or GED required. Three years related experience, providing child care/elder care/direct support to developmentally disabled persons, or previous experience supporting individuals in a mental health/special education or other human services setting is required. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. Must be MAP certified, CPR/First Aid certified within five (5) continuous months of employment/date of hire.

  • Develop linkages with a wide range of community resources specific to meet the needs and goals of persons with psychiatric disabilities.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and facilitate progressive discipline as needed for all staff. Arrange staff schedules.
  • Supervises the development and implementation of Quality Indicators through the IAP process and Program Goals.
  • Participates in the development of the program budgets, and monitors the program expenses.
  • Completes all necessary weekly/monthly reports.
  • Monitor medications in accordance with MAP regulations
  • Teach NSMHA trainings to newly hired employees
  • Insures the programs and person records are current, comprehensive and meet agency and funding source standards

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Six (6) years experience in human services and supervisory experience required. Previous experience with provision and/or management of psychiatric rehabilitation services preferred.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred. Knowledge of rehabilitative approaches to the treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.

Skills: Valid Mass driver’s license required
