The Behavioral Specialist helps to support individuals and staff in the Developmental Services Department. This person will assist the Clinical Coordinator/ Clinical Manager with day to day person centered clinical services provided to individuals. This person will also be responsible for training staff around clinical matters and Positive Behavior Supports and Person Centered Planning. They will work in a team environment to help individuals increase adaptive skills and behaviors, while decreasing maladaptive behaviors. This person may also help create and complete documents for a variety of topics including assessments and behavior.   The Behavioral Specialist is expected to use Person Centered Planning and Positive Behavior Supports on a daily basis when working with staff and clients and understand the characteristics of a wide range of intellectual disabilities as well as disorders such as autism and acquired brain injury.  This positions trains direct support professionals in the areas of data collection, Positive Behavior Supports, Person Centered Planning, and more; as well as actively participates in the collection and review of Key Indicators of Quality Service data, assist in identifying trends, and participate in Performance Improvement Projects with the goals of developing solutions and problem solving.

Title Residential Program Manager – DS

The Residential Program Manager is responsible for the management of a group home where adults with developmental disabilities reside and responsible for ensuring the needs of the Individuals living in the assigned group home(s) are met in all areas of service.

  • Clinical and program planning – responsible for the oversight of a daily residential schedule, ensuring the program meets Individuals’ needs, and allows for their maximum involvement.
  • Fiscal oversight – responsible for ensuring home(s) are operating are within budget.
  • Oversight of medication administration, laundry, shopping, menu/meal planning and the maintenance and safety of the group home site(s).
  • Liaison between clinical community and staff, program, clinical and agency level problem solving. Liaison with families and funding sources.
  • Meets with direct support team each month to support, motivate and train them in how to perform their essential job duties and responsibilities and educates staff on agency policies and procedures.
  • This position interfaces with staff, peers, senior management, families, neighbors, medical practitioners, and DDS service coordinators.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline preferred; BA required
  • Three years’ of related direct support experience
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • Must successfully complete all mandatory trainings as required by the Agency within the required timeframe. Must obtain CPR/First Aide certification within five (5) continuous months of hire. Must obtain Massachusetts MAP certification within five (5) continuous months of hire.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license

Salary:  $53,000 annual

Job Summary:
The Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the programmatic and administrative aspects of a residential program under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and/or Residential Service Coordinator.  Assists in recruiting, training and evaluating staff.  Assists in arranging staff schedules to meet the health and safety requirements of the program.  Assists in the development and implementation of Quality Indicators through the ISP process.  Assists with families/guardians, DDS, MCB and other service providers.   Supervises and participates in the housekeeping and maintenance of the house and vehicle.  Monitors medications in accordance with MAP regulations.  Assists with caseload, ISPS, menu planning, activities and day to day operations of the programs.  Assists with end of the month supervisions, work orders, ordering of food, food shopping, and medication and money audits.

Requirements:
High School Degree or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.  Must be MAP certified, CPR/first aide certified within five (5) continuous months of employment/date of hire.   Two years experience in the Human Services field required.  Supervisory experience preferred. As the Awake Overnight Counselor (Bilingual Spanish) for North Suffolk Mental Health Association, you’ll be responsible for the safety and well-being of consumers with developmental dissabilities in a residential setting  during overnight shifts. Assist clients based on need level, while following all agency policies, procedures, and licensing/funding source requirements. The Awake Overnight Counselor is awake and available to consumers during the entire overnight shift.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be awake and available to individuals during overnight shift
  • Perform cleaning duties
  • Oversee nightly activities as assigned by supervisor
  • Conduct security checks on an hourly basis, documenting that consumers are in the facility.
  • Perform basic data collection, entry, and tallying of information with respect to IAP goals, objectives, and protocol.
  • Perform weekly medication counts, medication audits and communicate with day staff the need to order refills.
  • During the week, wake individuals up for day program
  • Assist with showering and dressing for the day
  • Make sure clothing is clean and appropriate for the weather
  • Prepare breakfast for the individuals
  • Make sure lunch is packed for day program

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be Bilingual Spanish

Experience: At least 1 year in the human services field working with a similar population required.

Education: High School degree or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a similar field, preferred.

As a Bilingual Spanish Direct Support Professional III, you’ll be responsible for providing high quality direct care services to adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Direct Support Professionals will help clients live a safe, healthy, and enjoyable life in the community. Direct Support staff are responsible for ensuring Individuals are provided with opportunities to learn and exercise, increasing independence as much as possible.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the health and safety of Individuals served
  • Serve as a Mandated Reporter
  • Handle crisis situations according to agency policies and procedures
  • Monitor group home site and vehicle for safety, cleanliness and upkeep
  • Support the learning of Individuals by use of motivational techniques
  • Assist individuals with any activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments/treatment
  • Properly administer medication in accordance with Agency, DDS and DPH guidelines – Medication Administration Procedures (MAP).
  • Support each Individuals existing relationships and assist in increasing their network of friends and acquaintances.
  • Provide transportation for individuals to/from activities, medical appointments, and/or day programs through use of agency vehicle.
  • Assist individuals in becoming part of their community by supporting them in learning how to find resources, activities and transportation in the community.
  • Adheres to positive behavior support strategies. Carry out all interventions in an Individual’s Behavioral Protocol Plan as written and trained. Redirect and/or physically support Individuals who may be aggressive using proactive techniques while maintaining self-control.
  • Serve as an active, contributing and problem-solving member of the team.
  • Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings and trainings as well as supervision meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Title Residential Services Coordinator

The Residential Services Coordinator is responsible for the overall administrative and programmatic quality of services, and risk management for an assigned group of residential programs serving adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervises and evaluates at least five (5) Program Coordinators.
  2. Manages at least fifty (50) employees in the program cluster.
  3. Assists in activities involving individual services, program services, staff recruitment and disciplinary processes.
  4. Ensures program compliance with all applicable licensing authorities.
  5. Participates in the development of program policies and procedures.
  6. Acts as liaison with funding sources, staff, family members, advocates and other outside agency personnel.
  7. Responsible for ensuring the collection and use of program key indicator/quality enhancement information.
  8. Participate in the development of, and monitors program budgets and performs other cost control functions as necessary.
  9. Provides on-call coverage as required.
  10. Assists Clinical Coordinator and Dual Sensory Specialist in consumer assessments, intakes, discharges and referral activities.
  11. Ensure compliance with training requirements for program staff under his/her supervision.
  12. Responsible for ensuring the ISP/PSTP meets NSMHA standards in the development and implementation of those plans.
  1. Monitors individual case management to ensure compliance with NSMHA standards – particularly, through the use of the mandated audit system.
  2. Participate in all hiring, oversees scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of program staff. Ensures minimum staffing requirements are consistently met.
  3. Establish total communication system environments when applicable.
  4. Oversee the implementation of the quality indicators in each program he/she supervises.
  5. Performs on-call duties as required.
  6. When applicable, assists in the development and establishment of new programs.
  7. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of M.H/DDS. Residential Services.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree in related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must be MAP certified, CPR/first aide certified within five (5) continuous months of employment/date of hire.
  • Six (6) years of related experience of which three (3) must be supervisory.

During their assigned hours, floaters must be willing, and able, to work at any residential program at short notice. Floaters may be hired to work at either Mental Health or Developmental Disability residential programs. Access to reliable transportation is required, to ensure the floater’s ability to travel to different sites quickly and efficiently.

Residential direct support staff are members of a team, responsible for providing high quality direct care services to adults with mental illness. Each direct support staff member is responsible for ensuring that the human rights of all individuals served are met. Staff are responsible for treating all individuals with dignity and respect. Direct support staff are responsible for supporting individuals in the completion of their daily routines; and for ensuring persons served live a safe, healthy, enjoyable life in the community. Direct support staff are responsible for ensuring that individuals are provided with opportunities to learn and exercise, increasing independence as much as is practicable.

High school diploma or GED required. Three years related experience, providing child care/elder care/direct support to developmentally disabled persons, or previous experience supporting individuals in a mental health/special education or other human services setting is required. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. Must be MAP certified, CPR/First Aid certified within five (5) continuous months of employment/date of hire.

Requirements:

High school degree or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred. One (1) to two (2) years human services experience with similar population preferred. Must have Driver’s license. Must be MAP certified, CPR/1st aide within five (5) months of hire.

Salary:  $16/hour

Overnight – Sat-Sun 11pm-7am
Day – Sat-Sun 7am-3pm
Evening – Sat-Sun 3pm-11pm

The Awake/Asleep Overnight Counselor is responsible for the safety and well-being of individuals in a residential setting during overnight shifts. Provides assistance to individuals based on their need, and adheres to all agency policies and procedures and licensing/funding source requirements.  Be awake/asleep (dependent on need), and available to individuals during overnight shift.  During awake hours, check in with staff, individuals who are awake and complete a walk-through of the program.  Perform household maintenance and upkeep activities as needed. Monitor and insure health and safety of individuals.

For DS programs:  During the week, wake individuals up for day program, assist with showering and dressing for the day.  Prepare breakfast for the individuals and make sure lunch is packed for day program.

Part time positions available in both DS residential homes and CBFS (Mental Health) Residential homes in Boston, Winthrop, Revere & Waltham.  Please indicate preference in application.

Job Requirements:

The Relief’s schedule is flexible but there are three available shifts:

Overnight – 11pm-7am
Day – 7am-3pm
